Just out of curiosity did you work your way through the Sheldon 14pt List systematically? It's always the best way.*
Just on the hacksaw method. I found it easier to use a jigsaw if you have access to one. It means you can stick the blade down the tube gently and cut it towards the seat tube. As you get to the last bit get an old screwdriver, sharpen it and then cut into the last bit of the seatpost. If that makes sense.
In terms of heat, you can sometimes bodge this yourself with lots of ice followed by pouring boiling water over.
