Still haven't been in this place which is a poor effort given that i live about 500m away - what's the general consensus so far?

I have a habit of living in places with odd names, when i first moved down Souf i lived in Hertfordshire in a place called Ware. The amount of jibes i had from everyone about that place - the pinnacle was the checkout lady in Tesco taking the piss after i gave her my clubcard application form "Where's that, Ware do you live har har" Now she's chopped up in a bush by my old carpark.
Now i live just off Bellended road, another classic, and my friend thinks Peckerham is funny. Having said that he lives near a place called cummertrees which amused me slightly.
"Don't go in there, you'll get covered with sap!"
Pointless post but felt i needed to share.
As you were.

I grew up on a road called 'B488', my how we laughed.

there's a whole thread for this somewhere.

Thanks J. Still haven't worked out what any roads in Peckham are called, to be frank.

I retract my earlier comment, he doesn't even have any swisstop green in stock. I mean, can you believe that?!
(he was excellent about it, suggested I try condor, still recommend etc etc) -
• #163
Lol Tom, rocking up and demanding green swiss stop. You'll be in next week asking for Zipp 808 bearings knowing you...

Also, is it a big place inside (a la tardis?) coz it looks tiny from the outside, and most of the other shops on the street are indeed fairly small?
-
• #165
It was worth a go. Think it's tiny, he was working on a bike right there on the shop floor so don't think there's much beyond what you can see.

Sounds like my flat!

I live right round the corner from Paul's but have always gone up the road to Balfe's in East Dulwich for my LBS needs. They've been silly busy lately though so called into Paul's the other night to sound out when he'd (I'm assuming the bloke in shop, fixing bikes is Paul) be able to sort out a bb I couldn't get out. In the end got it out myself but then I thought my headset was on way out so popped in last night.
Quite embarrasingly nothing wrong with it other than being too tight - Paul stopped what he was in middle of doing and a look and a tweak and sorted it there and then. Really great service - I know it's just a little thing but so far I haven't spent a penny there but been in twice and had helpful, unpatronising advice and service. Pretty rare in my experience as a girl. Ace.
Peckham/SE Ldn types, go give him your business!
-
• #168
He's ace at just dropping what he's doing and sorting you out, and far too generous with his time. With me at least, considering how little I've spent in there.
-
• #169
Chaps, please, we need to establish that he'll remove and replace a BB for £2.50 before we can recommend him.
-
• #170
ah, he did mine for free (brought my own bb with me too, which was cheeky). I was lacking the tools and needed a hand.

I rode by yesterday. It looks like the shop has expanded into the near-by unit that was Fenton Walsh, a clothes shop that just closed. I've been in a couple of times. He's plenty friendly and helpful.
-
• #172
He's hired an extra mechanic too. The newer shop is more of a showroom and he's stocking more stuff.

• #173
'Proper' bikes, wilier and others. Good on him!
