Often just called wall rack or wall hook, usually under storage and stands in any online cycle shop. Wiggle do a couple, one with a hook and one with a solid bar at the front iirc.
If doing the above, it is also worth considering sticking something to the wall to protect the wall from your other wheel.

Ahhh, sorry.
Ive used both basic designs and found the one with the hook easiest to use but the one with the bar better for fat tyres (2" an above). Only tried cheapo metal ones and all were plenty strong enough for a heavy bike with bags still attached. I'm not aware of any shit ones but I have seen some overpriced ones. At the end of the day, its a big hook that you could probably fabricate yourself out of old broom handles and offcuts given the inclination to do so.

What are these called, or is there a better but similar option out there.
I have some of these :
http://www.ukbikestore.co.uk/product/119/drs54000/delta-wall-mount-leonardo.html
They work well but won't take a super-deep HHSB rim. My 4 spok Spinergy just goes in, but I'd say an 80mm won't.
It's a slight fiddle to get stuff up so if you're a 55kg weakling and have a 20kg downhill bike you could struggle.

if its hung by the back wheel you can't idly turn the pedals a little everytime you walk past it to make sure it still works.

Is there any reason why it says hang by the front wheel? Why not the back, does it matter? And how big tyres does it take (mainly for road bikes but there are other bikes that could be hung!)
I do know the answers to these questions, but it's through my own personal experience rather then studies conducted by independent testing authorities, so I doubt you would be interested.

I did and they arrive after a week or so, postage is pricey but stands perform well, I had posted a pic of my set up few pages back, have a look.

Not using the hooks in question but we have 100 bikes hung at work, evenly split between front and rear wheel, they've been hung like that and in regular use - ie up and down a lot - for 11 months now and I can see no reason why front wheel > rear wheel.

Looks nice, is it in two sections to allow the gap to be altered for wider top tubes?
It would appear to rely on having a horizontal top tube, also.
-
• #290
yeah, two sections so you can choose right wideness. and yes, only for horizontal tt's.

I need to get some of the "pedal parkers" mounts.
Is everyone still happy with their setups? Nobody had their bikes come crashing down around them yet?

Hi All,
I live in a Victorian Conversion lower ground floor flat which has my own entrance and subsequently a small 'patio' area - I currently store my bikes here but what I'd like to do is buy a shed to put my bikes inside.
It's central London so the shed would need to be lockable/secure but also waterproof.
I was thinking buying a shed from B&Q or Homebase however they are too big and don't fit in the area.
Anyone have any suggestions? Attached is a photo of what the patio looks like.
Cheers

Don't see attached photo, and would say that your best solution is to keep the bikes in the flat. A determined thief can easily remove a door from a shed.

If you must use a shed, alarm the fuck out of it and drill an anchoring into the ground that you can lock your bike(s) to. The more locks the better.
I use an Ikea shelf
