I just bought this Eddy Merckx, and I'm trying to identify it. It's obviously a respray, and a bad one at that. Looking through old catalogues, I'd guess it was a 1990 model, based on the look of the seatstays. The dropouts say "Eddy Merckx", the brake bridge does as well + it's got a "Silva" stamped underneath. It's got a tab for a racenumber and internal cabling for the rear brake. There's a hint of a serial number on the bottom bracket, but it's not readable (yet). It came with a Fondriest Dedacciai Optimal fork, which is probably not the original one...
I've stripped the bottom bracket on this one and it now a step closer to identifying it (I hope).
The serial is a Danish one, marked as a bike imported by Moreno Bikes in 1995. There is also a small 'H' on the drive side of the bottom bracket shell. According to http://www.cadre.org/Merckx/, the latter suggest that it might be a Corsa Extra, but the Corsa Extras were TSX/SLX and mine doesn't have the rifled tubing.
The frame weighs 1850 g and is 58 square.
