fuck you kids and your good degrees.
Well obviously it helps, but it's not like the old days when you could just about walk into any job you like. And that's probably a good thing.

TfL's revenue is lowered by the price of your ticket that you didn't buy. In the first instance you are reducing the group profit by the net amount of that loss of revenue. Then the second instance depends on the actions of TfL in response to making a lower profit, which could be a reduction in service quality or an increase in ticket prices to maintain revenue going forward.
I still do not see what group/herd psychology and revenue investment strategy has to do with accountancy?
Was your economics degree from Cambridge a BA or Bsc?
Good luck with the 180 career change to accountancy. -

Hang on, you're moving the goalposts. What happened to economies of scale? As I originally said, the revenue investment strategy is relevant to the secondary victims of your 'victimless crime' - the shareholders are the first victims due to their reduced profit on account of lower revenue without commensurately reduced costs.
It's an MA
I'm not an accountant, as explained upthread. -

This isn't accountancy.. its economics.
Im guessing you won't be able to work out the difference.Strange that, it doesn't sound like anything that I covered when I did my economics degree.
[wanker] and got a double first [/wanker]did you get this degree on the internet?
[double wanker] And my degree's from Cambridge, you may have heard of it. [/wanker]

It's a pity there isn't a Strava equivalent for internet idiocy. If there was, tommy would be racking up the KOMs - King of the Muppets...

I'd be interested in hearing a bit more of the idea behind this- Tommy has said a few times that he's helping by what he's doing.
This may be similar to certain types of offender protesting their innocence in the sincere belief that they are helping their victims, or it may actually be an interesting theory which he's simply not explained.
As it stands it does rather look like he's alluding to something to simply excuse his own greed, travelling at the expense of everyone else.
But! Lets give him the benefit of the doubt, and give him a chance to lay out how he is helping.

I got a train from Dorking Deepdene this weekend, after my knee failed catastrophically on Box Hill (pathetic, I know). Strolled on at Deepdene, train to Redhill, then to Victoria. Obviously no barriers or ticket machine at Deepdene, so when I got off a Victoria I wandered around the station looking for someone to tell me how to pay for the trip I'd just taken.
After clip-clopping about aimlessly for a bit, a ticket-gate attendant called me over and ushered me through the larger ticket barrier with my bike, without asking for a ticket or anything. They don't help themselves, some times.

Its only because after all the expense of a cambridge education and yet he still don't know the difference between economics and accountancy that I believe it.

Dear tommy - serious question. Are you intent on displaying your ignorance and idiocy, or is this some deeply subtle attempt at irony? If it's the former, then do keep digging away - you must have lost sight of daylight long ago. If it's the latter, then I'm impressed albeit bemused as to why you're bothering.

Tommy, why not respond to many of the pertinent points raised here. Rather than enter into a semantic debate.

I think we'd best keep religion out of this, you know what happened to Pisti...

That's what I don't get. Tommy clearly isn't entirely stupid. He can spell 'accountancy' and 'economics' and appreciates that there's a difference between the two, even if he doesn't appear to understand what it is. And yet he tries to justify his behaviour with post-rationalisations which the average 5 year-old would find laughable. Which begs the question whether he's deluding himself, or everyone else? And if it's the latter, why?

A number of times I have had the pleasure of getting on at a station without cattle gates and either accidently forgotten or the card didn't register and annoyingly had to pay a penalty on exit. Fucking annoying esp when the attendants don't want to hear the sob (but sadly true) story. Even cooler story

I've been done for travelling without a ticket twice and the annoying thing is that I had bought a ticket both times but managed to lose it (paper ticket) or forgot to tap in to collect an oyster ticket. Annoying.

Mainly because im busy at work and being attacked from so many different angles its hard to pick a common thread.
oh and I fucking love semantic debates
