My annual council tax charge is £1060.39, which when divided by 12 works out at £88.37 a month.
Yet my council tax bill states a payment schedule of £112 a month.
I queried this with my borough and they said it is calculated as a daily charge and so the annual sum cannot be simply divided by 12.
OK, let's have a look at the cost per day.
So £1060.39 / 365.242 = £2.90 a day.
£2.90 * 31 = £89.90 for a 31day month.
I have no idea where this extra £22 a month is coming from, and LB Lewisham couldn't explain or justify it either.
Can anyone correct my maths or shed any light on it...?
