We did 90 mins each for most of the way. As we got to France inshore, we were tiring and our strokes were getting ragged after about an hour, so we changed to 60 mins. In the end, when we were trying to break from the flood coming north east (where the line kinks very near the shore), we each did a brutal 30 mins to get through. Then we both got in and swam to shore together. It was on a sunny beach, and we had a welcoming committee of locals who tested my GCSE French. They presented us with some shells as souvenirs.
We don't have any way of showing who did what, which is probably good - my mate's the stronger swimmer and he'd have no qualms about giving it the 'well, I did two-thirds, really'! Bastard's already been on the phone today asking me about doing a two-way next year. I'm tempted.
