What actually happens with the Roadsafe reports?

I have to say it does feel like a massive waste of time, and that the coppers only act once an ambo has had to be called.

actually, you'd be mistaken!

to my surprise, i got a response from an officer regarding reporting anti-social driving (in case its later useful if that same driver/car is involved in anything more serious): the officer ran some checks on the car, and was perhaps willing to investigate / pursue the matter further had i more evidence (e.g. CCTV / witnesses etc.);

it also feels good to be able to feedback against some slight.. :-)
