• Sent to TFL and Roadsafe after a bus nearly squished me this morning. Does anyone else find that the out of service buses all seem to have really bad drivers?

    Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to complain about the driving of one of your buses this morning.

I was cycling along Isledon Road in primary position in the left-hand lane at 9.08am (near the intersection with Steve Biko Road) on a white road bike (I was wearing a claret t-shirt).

Ahead of me was a white truck/van in the next lane over. As I was riding a bus started to pass me very closely (I am sure that you are aware that the highway code states that a cyclist should be given at least as much when being overtaken as a car) forcing me in towards the kerb.

I assume that the driver then saw the vehicle up ahead in the next lane as they then cut right in towards the kerb, into the space that I was cycling in. I have no doubt that if I had not slowed drastically the rear wing of the bus would have hit me as there was no other road space available. I fear that a less experienced cyclist, who recognised the danger fractionally later would be hit by the driver performing this manoeuvre which, given the traffic, there clearly wasn’t enough room to do.

The bus was an out of service 254 (possibly a 253) with the registration LJ03 MSV. I passed the bus on the stand on Tollington Rd at 9.11am and noted that the driver was a black male wearing a leather cap.

I assume, given the information above that you will be able to access the CCTV on this bus and view for yourself this highly dangerous piece of driving. I trust that, before the driver is allowed out again he will receive sufficient disciplinary/training action so that he will not contemplate performing such a dangerous manoeuvre in the future.

I would appreciate being kept updated with the progress of this investigation.

    Kind regards,
