I like the pun, but IMO if its still going to be a grip shift you may as well plonk it on the bar end:
... is the difficultly because the cable pulls forward and back, rather than just having tension and then releasing it? I'd have though with all the electric stuff out the smart move is just to copy shimano and then you could mount shifters where ever you like.
