I managed to track down an old version of the software, and it seems to be connecting.
I just went for a quick one mile run and uploaded it - now waiting to see if it appears on Garmin Connect. If it does then I'm golden. I may also try GarminSync.com so that it automagically appears on Strava. If that works, then I'll try to get my Edge 510 to automatically upload as well (can they do that?) and then my whole life will be automated (apart from going to work, cooking food, etc)...
