spoke to my insurance company - he was talking in circles - although he admitted that in event of accident they may look to pay out as long as I had retrospectively added commuting to my policy (?) my policy itself would be invalidated at time of accident by not having commuting added
he likened it to pillion - if you carry a pillion passenger and don't have that on your policy, you're not covered to carry a pillion passenger...
sounds a grey area though
