My LBS lowered my saddle height by 15mm when doing some repair work. They must have regreased it and refitted it to be nice. I wasn't aware at the time, and didn't realise for a week, but all of a sudden I started getting right knee pain. It resolved within a few weeks of changing back to the original height. Kind of put a dampener on my RvV sportive ride though.
I'm not sure a bike fit is necessary but I definitely see the importance of finding a bike position that is right for you, one way or another.
