Great project! Let's all confuse you about what colour you should have them sprayed!
PS Not a fucking Regal

...You answered my question in your last post. It has to be old-school '80s Roberts decals. Not too keen on the modern ones. This is gonna be ace.

Not a fucking Regal
I'm thinking of this:

Here's my wanted thread, by the way.
Obviously, please let me know if you have anything.
I have some of the stuff from the track bike to exchange. -

Let's all confuse you about what colour you should have them sprayed!
To save confusion, it'll be either as close to the current colour of the track bike as possible, or flam red.
You have until Herne Hill closes for the winter to cast your votes.Other discussions:
- Bartape: Benotto for both? Can I put padding under it for the road bike?
- Tyres: The endless 23mm gumwall puncture protection debate, etc.
- Headsets: current record model for both?
- Road Handlebars: Highway one? Noodles? M106? Deda 215? They need to be silver, fit a 1a stem (don't mind shimming 0.4mm) and offer a smooth hood>bar transition.

This project is ludicrous, absurd and quite frankly daft. I love it!
For the record I would stick to silver seatposts, and question the desire for those saddles too............

This is awesome. I need to find myself a Roberts track frame. You should stick with red, though.

^ yea and why not just match the colour to the existing track frame, saving a bit of character and £ at the same time?

Will you be offloading the Cinelli saddle from the Roberts? I'd like to register my interest again if so!

I know what you mean... I just can't think of a silver campag seatpost that I like as much as the carbon ones.

I'd like matching decal schemes, but I'd also like two bidons without the seat tube bosses getting in the way of the decal:

Yes, I imagine so.
I'll let you know when this happens. -

Many thanks. Just wondering on the seat post front if the unfluted Record version from the mid 90's might suit, i believe the same post was used in both the road and pista groupo.

Nice love these sort of projects. I'd go for a modern Record headset and some Soma HW1's (as you need two).

What is that grey bike with the nice brake bridge? I admit the Regal does look quite nice on there but still. It's the bloody studs on the bum bit - do my head in. Make me think of cowboy boots or something.
My vote for colour would basically be something luxurious. This is a project of luxury, not of need. I would say a very deep Dairy Milk purple or a heavy blood red. Maybe some sparkles.
As some of you already know, I'm in the process of putting together a Roberts road bike to match my track bike.
Here's the track bike in it's prettiest guise:
And here's the frame for the road bike (thanks to Primitive Robot):
I'll be respraying them both to ensure an exact colour and decal-scheme match (the seat-tube bottle bosses on the road frame are annoying in this regard)
I'll also be rebuilding them both, as I want 10 gears and brifters, so matching 80's Super Record road stuff isn't going to cut it).
