I think you can just use file copy, the map lock file is just a text file. If you have locked maps on the card. The lock file is something.unl and is tied to the device id and not the card.
i.e. copy all the files off the card (if possible) and place them on the new card.You may be able to read the card easier in a sd/microsd card reader rather than the garmin.
These allow a micro sd card to be read in any usb port.
