• Guessing Ed had a nice long sleep at Brampton and Vesalius at Barnard Castle

    I have 9 hours sleep not by intention as the volunteer somehow forget to wake me up at 3.00 and luckily the mechanic whom I was speaking to the other day spotted my bicycle next to the workstand and realised it have been there for too long while others have been and gone.

    I put it there because it was pouring rain and I don't want a soggy Brooks saddle, especially when I never had chamois cream, had it not been raining, I would have been disqualified.

    End up leaving Brampton at 07:03 and just about managed to get to Barnard Castle with an hour and half before the cut-off time.

    The first night fucked me up hugely, I hadn't slept well prior to the ride (4 hours) and took a very strong painkiller that made me doozed off and almost crash several time (the only time I managed to keep my eyes open were on the Humber Bridge), I kept stopping in villages to sleep on the bench for 15 minutes until I arrived in Pocklington at nearly 4am, a huge time gap.

    Bit of a shame really, otherwise would have rode with Vesalius at the end.

    At Market Rasin getting a couple hours kip before the last legs;
