  • "What is London doing?"

Do you mean are people like John, Jono and myself working on this in private? No. Has a serious discussion been started by other players? No. Do we have a refs list for the London Open and are we going to make it as well organised as we can? Yes. London is everyone, if a serious reffing discussion has happened you would have seen it and if you cant see it and want to grumble about it not happening then make it happen! The test is good, we could make our own test but that needs someone's time and effort to make it happen. We could have a paper one before tournaments wjuch the head ref gives out and explains any mistakes to refs before the day starts, ensuring everyone is on the same page. You beed a very confident head ref or refs. Ideally a reffing team ahould be four people, the main ref, a timekeeper and two goal refs, the latter three being able to advise refs with various hand signals or radios even. It is the same people over and over who end up doing a lot of reffing and then people jump down the throats of less experienced refs when they dont ref hard enough! I don't want to pay refs to travel to tournaments but the Euro Bench Minor situation was a bit intense, reffing for four hours straight is not ideal.

Haha /rant. Also, this wasn't a personal attack, so calm right down :) Reffing certification is a great next step towards empowering people and creating more knowledgable, skilful and ultimately more confident refs. We should applaud and consider implementing over here, shirley?
