  • Pro-tip for next time. Drape them over your computer.

  • Still time to do that.
Although I wouldn't want to destroy my PC

  • CRT monitors were great for that.

Surely this is why we have IT support at work?

  • No hand dryer at work?

  • You were dismissing the turbo trainer due to it being designed to run with an application on IOS, I was pointing out that this was a logical choice given the competition (Windows and Android).

Why is it the logical choice? There are far more Windows machines out there than iOS devices.

  • No hand dryer at work?

Or worse, one of those stupid fucking dyson ones that you can't dry things in. I am so looking forward to cycling home in my still-wet clothes.

  • Yes, I can see how that would be a design fault with the chain...

Shiny silver chain not staying shiny silver while the brown and silver KMC chain stays brown and silver through winter. Not a design fault just something I noticed.

Which is why I mentioned the convenience factor- name a 140g Windows machine that'll fit in a pocket.

It's meant for rear axle mounting but I guess it could be used for the front too. Bit pricey though.

For the front and cheap , ended up using these on the rear of a frame as well as P clips for the top attachment

  • Why do you need to use a portable device when sitting on a turbo?

What is it with you and weight? As I said, when you have a 20kg trainer to run I fail to see the point of worrying about how heavy your phone or PC is. If you are able-bodied enough to lift 20kg of trainer I'm sure you could manage a desktop, laptop or if you're really struggling tablet.

  • Should I get a trainerroad account and an ant+ dongle?

  • Nokia N800?

Weight is generally considered to be an important issue for a mobile telephone.

Anyway, I'm sure you're just trolling, and deliberately misunderstanding what I'm saying, so I'll leave this here.

  • Due to knee problems I think I'll have to stick to speedplay on all my bikes from now on.

Would speedplay on fixed gear be a good idea? Apart from the obvious not being able to walk around I don't see why they wouldn't.

  • if your knees problems are so sever you can't use any other brand of pedal should you still be riding fixed gear?

  • ho ke uses speedplay on his fixed on stupid gearing.

you can also get cleat covers that you don't have to remove to clip in so you can walk around in them

    #win

  • if your knees problems are so sever you can't use any other brand of pedal should you still be riding fixed gear?

    Probably not.

  • I stand to be corrected but from what I have heard from various bike fitters and trainers Speedplay are the pedal you should consider if you have knee problems due to the wide range of adjustments and axle lengths that are available.

Fromy my flabby amateur perspective, this means more scope to fuck my knees up but whatevs.

  • I like ATAC's or egg beaters as they made my hip and knee problems disappear after using shimanos

  • if your knees problems are so sever you can't use any other brand of pedal should you still be riding fixed gear?

    Sever the knees. Problem solved.

  • How difficult are Shimano 600 headsets to replace? I remember hearing about them being rather low stack so people kept finding that the steerer was too short to use on 90% of other headsets.

My crown race is cracked so it's going to need replacing soon. What are the chances that I'd be able to find a replacement crown race and just swap the bearings?

Weight is way down the list of specs that people consider when buying a phone.

If you can't get your point across then you clearly don't understand it yourself. We are talking about a turbo trainer with an interface to control it and the choice of device this interface should run on. I still fail to see how being able to carry the turbo trainer interface around with you is in any way useful when you're clearly not going to be carrying the turbo trainer around too. You would likely be riding it at home, where you would have a home computer or laptop. Which probably runs Windows or can be made to run Windows. Ergo, Windows is what I would choose to develop my turbo trainer interface in.
