Only been in Manchester for about 18 months and picking up my new bike on Thursday so this is dead handy. Thanks.

Just join Manc Wheelers and go on a few club runs. It'll get you a few decent routes. Also we have loads of Track sessions atm, meaning you can get on the track cheap & without having to wait 1 million years for a taster session

I meant to get down to the Manchester Wheelers sunday club run yesterday, but I was too hungover for a 10am start. Hopefully be down in the next few weeks, bit worried though as i'm told they are fast!

Join us on facebook, 01FIX1, we do weekly wednesday evening rides usually no more than 30miles + beers then weekend rides which are usually plenty more miles and a few less beers!

Thinking of riding this route a week on Friday. Any road closures? Any input on the route? http://ridewithgps.com/routes/2656958
anyone interested? -

Turn off the A6013 onto Lydgate Lane, right onto Carr Lane, left onto Thornhill Lane and eventually you end up on A6187. It's nicer and quieter than heading to Bamford.
Edale Road and over Mam Tor is quieter than going through Castleton too, probably the same elevation.
Would suggest avoiding the A6, there are a couple of backroads that will take you from Chapel to New Mills.

• #16
pretty hilly 60 miles too, phwoar!
-
• #17
yeah. Will be the hilliest route I've done, I have ridden winnats before, and was looking for a route that had some of the other passes in the peaks.
-
• #18
I do part of that ride often (reversed, marple to chapel then back to marple via glossop), but only 30 miles of it to get the legs burning, i couldnt go much further with that much climbing
kills me every time
-
• #19
also doing a loop from marple round disley to lyme park via pot shrigley etc has some serious steep bits which are always.. fun?
-
• #20
do you have a gpx of your route? Thanks!
-
• #21
This is my 'i need some quick exercise route' you could make it longer by riding out from manchester and back some interesting ways meaning you'd have a long ride with a very hilly middle etc
the elevation is out on it on ridewithgps i think, my garmin and strava both give me 2600ft for the same ride, the first 10 miles or so are almost 2000ft with the second 10 being much flatter

Hello Mancs,
I am returning to the Motherland this weekend and bringing the road bike with me.
Does anyone have a decent 40mile ish route out from Chorlton into some green and pleasant?
Others are welcome to join if they fancy.
