  • How do the 3/4 shorts fit in the waist, tts? The assistant looked at me blankly when I asked. Seem to be sold out of my size too, unfortunately. If anyone has a navy pair in 32, let me know.

  • +1 for Giro LX. I have the long finger ones, now looking for black fingerless L for a decent price online...

Not like a high street fashion shop where they can be a few inches either side of the marked size. These are more like a mid priced suit shop where the sizing is bang on what they claim. So if your Austin Reed or Aquascrotum trousers are 32" your Rapha should fit in that size as well.

  • Giro LX: not a fan.
    Specialized BG Gel: pure win.

  • Cheaper still... http://www.louisgarneau.com/us-en/product/305560/1481084/Road/0_CALORY_GLOVES

Can get them for £12 in Cycle Surgery and they are really comfortable. Outlasted my Assos gloves and pretty much every other glove I've ever owned.

  • Castelli Velocissimo. Nice but a bit pricey.

  • As we're talking gloves. I can recommend the Roeckl Brandis. Classic looks but really comfortable with great padding, and £25.

  • as i needed some new cycling jerseys i took last minute advantage of the survey discount code and treated myself to a merino polo and merino t-shirt. then 20 minutes later my gf comes into the kitchen and tells me she just bought me a present... the randonnee jersey.

I love everything about these shorts. But they dont seem to be cut to include genitals. Most annoying.

  • Been looking at the rapha gloves recently. £100 seems like a lot to drop.

    Giro LX gloves FTW.

Got rid of my Rapha Classic bibs. Gonna try Assos. Picked up their brochure from Condor. Pretty amusing. All the cyclists look like Universal Soldier. Grave yard photo with palm trees is amazing.

yes the giro lx gloves is very similar and has done me great service. rapha is coming out with new overhauled gloves in fall13 and spring 14 too

Giro, two or three rides. I give them till October.

Nothing comes close to the Grand Tour gloves, mabe the base layer.

  • Rapha, seriously!!

  • String vest.

  • Pro issue only Rapha ultra lightweight bibshorts. Little bit revealing at the cafe, but nicely ventilated. No one seems to want to draft you when you're wearing them either.

Fuck Brad is looking good there. 'What, you can see all my home made tattoos? Fuck you Im King of the Mods!'.

I have some Santini 'carbon' bibs. Really really good but a tad see through. On my local bunch ride some dude rode along side me and politely informed me that he could see my arse. My reply of 'lucky you' didnt go down too well and he hasent spocken to me since.

  • I bought the performance base-layer.

It's like a string vest made out of stretchy stuff.

Shocked by how it looks... my body actually looks good in this thing.

Might need to save up for another.

Had a Rapha gift voucher and Wiggle are being slack about deliveries so went for one of these instead of a Craft (yes, could have bought one somewhere else). Never used a mesh base layer like this before (only wool). Noticed the difference immediately. Much more comfortable and cooler too.

  • what! wiggle is always next day for me unlike raffa who tends to push 4+ days

  • Been using it for a week and it's bloody great.

  • What are the benefits of a mesh baselayer over none when riding in hot weather?

  • And can I just cultivate my chest hair for similar advantages?

  • Instead of the sweat staying on your skin and being prevented from evaporating effectively by a jersey, it is absorbed into the BL and wicked to the top of it. It keeps the hot liquid off your skin's surface. The sweat then evaporates off the Bl, cooling it, and giving you a cool layer on your skin.

    I think...

  • It wicks away the sweat, but I've always found that when it's really hot it tends to make you warmer, and even though it's wicking the sweat away you'd be cooler without it. They're great when it's not absolutely roasting out though.

    London shop, Brewer Street.

  • What are the benefits of a mesh baselayer over none when riding in hot weather?

If your jersey if effective at wicking away the sweat then none, if however your jersey does not wick effectively then they will lift the sweat away from your body and help the jersey wick the sweat away.

So it depends on your jersey as to whether you need one.
