• This idiot http://t.co/mkI7E3qBKT tried to run me off the road coming down Sydenham Hill this morning - Strava says I was doing 35 mph at the time.

Should be over to my side apparently. He asked me what I was going to do about it to which I replied "report you to the Police". He told me to shut up and sped off in a cloud of diesel smoke to sit in the queue 100 yds away.

"In and out of Wandsworth with the numbers on their name,
It's funny how their missus' always look the bleedin' same..."

What a right pair of double cuntage.

They're like an obligatory stereotype of White Van Man.

  • Had a nutter get out if his car and push me yesterday!

Came as such a surprise I didn't think about photo's or number plates.

It was hot, he'd probably been sitting in traffic for half an hour (or more) and was probably annoyed that I rode past the queue then pulled up in front of him to turn right (in the right hand of two lanes)... He was seriously rabid, spitting as he shouted he'd kill me. I didn't help by laughing at him and asking him if he'd been drinking.

Really wish I'd got a number plate.

  • got a response this morning from Roadsafe London for reporting a lorry driver swerving all over the place whilst talking on his mobile. nobody was prosecuted as there was no photo/video evidence, but I reckon the check up can't have gone unnoticed in the company.
hence, the system works IMO. keep reporting people.

  • Just seen this doing the rounds via twitter. Skip to 30 secs in before owt happens...

LF06XBT HGV ignores give way signs. Cyclist near miss...again. - YouTube

    WAC etc.

  • Keltbray, again.

  • Fucking hell... Cunt doesn't quite cover it!

  • bloody hell.

  • I posted the video on their Facebook page, lets see how long it takes them to delete it

  • Thing is, a nervous cyclist would have been gutter-hugging and go under the wheels.

  • I posted the video on their Facebook page, lets see how long it takes them to delete it

    Already gone I think!

  • still there

  • still there

Just popped up for me. Wonder what they'll do.

  • From their 'Corporate social responsibility' statement:

"At Keltbray we believe we have a duty to operate responsibly make a positive contribution to the economy, the environment and communities....

Our fleet is fitted with proximity protection standards to improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists".

  • Damn shame the "proximity protection standards" don't include the driver...

  • Should tweet them too @KeltbrayGroup

  • Damn shame the "proximity protection standards" don't include the driver...

because they're far and away the most dangerous thing?

  • I used the contact form on the Keltbray website, and reported it with a link to the video. I got a call back less than an hour later from the director who had to leave a message, but he spoke at length about how he had seen the video and how seriously he was going to take this. Sounded pretty reassuring.

  • BK13 FUU, a white transit with Breezemount UK livery. Roadsafed and I shall be reporting them to the company.

The driver and passenger were both verbally abusive throughout the whole episode, and both clearly showed they had no knowledge of the highway code, or the concept of 'taking the lane'.

Copied from my letter to the company:

At point A, I filtered forward to the ASL and indicated to the driver of the bus behind me that I wished to go straight on. I then proceeded to do so once the traffic lights were green.

At point B, the bus pulled left into the bus stop and allowed the driver of the white panel van (BK13 FUU) to move forwards. At this point he drove intimidatingly close to my rear wheel, and revved the engine in an effort to make me move. However, as at this point the road is a single carriageway, I motioned to the driver to hang back (a flat palm facing backwards) as there would be insufficient room for him to perform a safe overtake were I to move to the left of the lane.

At this point I would like to state that I was not travelling slowly, the speedometer on my bike read between 23 and 25mph for almost the whole of the distance indicated by the orange coloured line. For this reason, I can only assume that the driver was behaving as such because he was impatient and inconsiderate.

Between points B and C, the passenger in the car opened the window and leant out. He was verbally abusive and began to shout at me to "Move the fuck over!" and asked "Do you think you're a fucking car?!" Of course, at this point I was becoming more worried for my safety, as I believed the passengers shouting might encourage the driver to attempt a dangerous overtaking manoeuvre. For that reason, as soon as the road split into two lanes - a few metres ahead of point C - I moved into the left hand lane and allowed the driver of the van to pass me.

The driver however drove into the right hand lane and stopped behind another car waiting at the lights.

The traffic lights at point C went green, and I (second in the queue in the left hand lane) went forward and began to turn left onto Wembley Hill Road. The driver of the van then cut across the other lane of traffic, with no indication, and attempted to force his way between myself and the pedestrian refuge at the junction. I slowed dramatically and enabled him to complete the aggressive and dangerous manoeuvre as I simply wanted to be behind and away from the van. All throughout the second manoeuvre the passenger was still leaning out the side of the van's cab and swering at me.

All in all I was disgusted, and intimidated by the standard of driving exhibited, and also downright appalled that the driver saw it fit to utilise his vehicle as a way of bullying other road users.

A cyclist is injured after colliding with a construction lorry owned by the same firm involved in the death of a rider three months ago.
The woman was taken to hospital with a suspected broken ankle after becoming trapped between the Keltbray lorry and a metal railing opposite Borough Tube station, at the junction of Borough High Street and Great Dover Street.

  • Is it worth making a "list of companies not to buy goods/services from"?

To be added to if there are incidents reported/lack of adequate response from the company, removed if it appears they alter policy in a way that encourages road safety. LFGSS alone isn't much but if it was posted around other sites the net effect might be to get them to realise driving more aggresively isn't the commercially intelligent option. Most regular cyclists also tend to add quite a lot to the economy of where they live.

  • Interestingly, the truck used in the recent 'Exchanging Places' event at Cardinal Place, Victoria, was a Keltbray tipper truck (very frequently spotted around here).

I have seen them driving at ridiculous speeds around here and clipping pedestrian refuges at speed. It is a bit of a contradiction - but maybe it is driver specific?

  • I had the classic angry, baldy, fat chav experience this morning.

Going round the gyratory at Surrey Quays heading West. Traffic is stacking so I tuck in infront of our hero. He immediately beeps the horn (we're stationary), I ignore him. He starts screaming something in yobbo out the window, I ignore him. Traffic starts crawling forward again, I'm still infront of him and he's still shouting out the window and I'm still ignoring him. Then the road opens up and he pulls alongside but has lost his boldness so I laugh condescendingly at him, he makes with the 'very small penis' mime and then runs the red light because he wasn't paying attention. What an odd chap.

  • Wish you could road safe cyclists too sometimes.. Tw*t of a cyclist - YouTube

  • ^ you'll have to settle for a swift kick to the balls the next time you see him. double bellend for the undercut AND narrowly missing a ped. It boggles my mind the way some people cycle.
