  • So this arriving today. Straight to Armourtex with the frame this weekend, thinking perhaps a lacquered raw finish, having seen that beaut further back in this thread. Or maybe something jazzier. Then it's getting a lot of chrome parts and a front carrier. PARKBIKE.

  • tiny picture of the ebay sale.

  • how long are those cranks?! looks like you could stand the bike on them without putting anything underneath the pedal.

  • they measure at 170. just a funny photo I think. frame is stripped back and ready for a relaxing weekend at armourtex

  • Here is my CC built up for the DD.

  • BACK FROM ARMOURTEX

  • Like the look of that Fasih, nice. Why no front mudguard though?

  • I lost a couple of the mounting bolts, will pick up some spares this weekend.

  • I've just finished building up the maroon roller frame Shinscar was selling a while back, using it as my beater/rat/bad weather commuter. gotta say I'm loving it, having 28c's is nice as it just rolls over everything in it's path. Will get photos up soon

  • thought this was a nice steamroller, bb drop must be a bitch though

  • Almost finished now! just need to pick up a flatter, silver stem.

  • saw a butchered roller just west of tottenham court road today. just frame and a wheel left. someone should salvage it

  • thought this was a nice steamroller, bb drop must be a bitch though

Fantastic! If only the Steamroller would have a slightly higher BB..

  • By the way: Did anyone of you Steamrollers ever rode a Dodici Gara or Cinelli Vigorelli? How does they handle compared to the Steamroller?

  • pretty differently i would of thought, mine handled a lot like my old Gazelle road bike, i think the geometry was pretty similar

  • All this chat about the bb height. Is anyone riding a steamroller actually bothered?

  • I was before i got mine, but when i rode it i only pedal striked twice i think, on awkward slanted corners to

  • I pedal strike every now and then, to be honest. I use platform pedals, they are pretty flat though.

I wonder how a carbon fork changes the handling of the Steamroller.

  • I wonder how a carbon fork changes the handling of the Steamroller.

Not enough to really notice after a few minutes and all depends what rake the carbon fork is. I used a 43mm rake fork and the steering may have been quicker than the stock fork but it was so marginal that it wouldn't have made a good reason to swap. Losing half a kilo in weight was a better reason...

  • Thanks for the answer! Indeed weight is an issue, too!

  • By the way: Did anyone of you Steamrollers ever rode a Dodici Gara

I own both, but as I only use the Steamroller for polo, I can't really comment

  • Ive checked several carbon forks but havent found one with a reasonable price and a 375mm axle-to-crown distance yet. Any suggestions?

  • I'd put alpina on it. But I think it has something like 368/370 a2c

  • Never pedal struck on mine, I do feather a brake sometimes on the entry to bends, I'm sorry and ashamed.

  • I rode mine through the winter so it was usually wet or even icey, i think through the summer i would of pedal striked more often if i also owned a track frame, if not id probably get used to it and know the 'leaning limit'
