Sad - I'll keep an eye out for it/ be vigilant about my own garden shed bike storage facilities!

Sorry to hear that, I'll definitely keep a look out. Out of interest, how likely is it that bikes nicked in Oxford will actually stay in town. I'd have thought it was small enough that the risk of the bike being spotted would mean thieves took their ill gotten gains up to London?

I doubt it will stay in Oxford as too recognisable, but you never know. I was only visiting for the weekend I'm based in Maidstone, Kent. It's either gone to Birmingham or London after being broken down. Iv emailed all the shops/clubs in Birmingham and I'm going up to brick lane market Sunday as many bikes reappear around there for sale. Thanks for keeping an eye out

Sorry to hear about all these thefts. Keeping my eye out for them and I'm ready to D-lock and/or call the po-po if needs be.

• #306
Calling the rozzers is usually the best options because you never know how theives will react to being challenged!

Judging from this forum theft seems to have really stepped up in Oxford.
How well have the stolen bikes been locked?
-
• #308
It was d-locked through the rear wheel and frame and a abus chain got through both with hundreds of people walking around
-
• #309
so it was probably cropped (noisily) with a heap of people around. This is quite unsettling. Make sure to report any stolen bikes even if you don't think it might be worth while, the police can't/won't allocate resources if they don't have any reports of thefts.

Was it lean locked or in a stand?
-
• #311
I once broke a key in a crappy "armoured" cable lock on a beat up mountain bike outside the King Arms. Came back the next day with a knife and a saw. Plenty of people walking by and tables were full. Eyelids were not batted.

lean locked on bicycle railings, you think some people would take an interest in to someone cutting through a lock but apparently not. Such a nice city as well shame just let down by this theft

Looks like a nice route. Shame I wont be around.

It was a nice route, but there was a fair few off-road sections. Bike is covered and so was I, but the Kites and the fact I was back on home(ish) turf made me smile continuously for the 55miles I ended up doing (skipped a bit on way back as needed to be home for the gf and lunch).
Tmw I may try this:

In reverse... Leaving early, hopefully fairly fast, and back in time for tea via the X5. Also if I come across any of the returning LELers that would be sweet too. -

Hey eyebrows and co, I'm going to start CX training in around a week. Does anyone fancy bombing it around south parks in the dark from around 9 at least twice a week till december and the end of cross season? If you do, PM me and let's set some dates. I get back from work late and I'll be doing night time cross anyway, so I need to practice and I'll go faster with someone to ride against. MTBs/Hybrids with off-road tyres welcome. Aiming to do around 30 minutes pushing it and some dismount practice/running/barriers etc.

Incidentally, my track bike is still for sale! Now at £460, which is ridiculious. http://www.lfgss.com/thread110757.html

Ahh- I don't live in Oxford anymore- just visit from time to time to see gf.
If the dates coincide- I'd be keen to join ya.

Spotted.
A moustachioed Sir on a beautiful blue tall bike in Littlemore.
My bike was stolen while on holiday in Oxford at the weekend, Stolen from outside the kings arms on the corner of holywell street on the 20th between 2pm and 6pm. I'd really appreciate if you could keep an eye out on your rides over the coming weeks. It's a 1975 alec bird 54.5cm time trial frame. Only one known in the country with rear dropouts welded in alf engers colours. Really appreciate any help. Reward of £300 for frame return, been in family since new absolutely gutted. taken in broad daylight with hundreds of people around.
