And unfortunately you missed the best descent, the road from the top of Bwlch down to Lake Bala (so basically the only other way you can go, I think its called Hellfire Pass) is one of my favourite-ist bits of road in the whole world. 20 minutes of descending heaven, assuming you dodge the sheep.
