I have an old mavic cosmic front wheel that I bought off eBay recently to matchj a rear wheel my girlfriend has on her bike, and have just noticed that one of the spokes has a kink in it.
The wheel currently runs true, here are some pics
My first thoughts are that this spoke has had it's day and needs replacing, and considering it's such a low spoke count wheel, it would probably be unsafe to ride.
Since I've bought it the wheel hasn't been ridden, although I was trying to bungee rope the wheel to my saddlebag when I noticed the bent spoke. This is the only scenario I could think of that the bent spoke would be my fault, and surely a bungee rope can't bend a spoke?
What should I do?
1). Let my girlfriend use the wheel, and if it breaks try and source another spoke.
2). Find another spoke before she uses it. (Thinking a CX ray would make a similar replacement if I couldn't find a cosmic one?)
3). Try and open a case with the eBay seller (despite his ad saying no refunds)
