Light headwind all the way there. Tailwind on the way back. Warm and dry.
Fuckin' ace.

it'll be like sitting at your desk with a fan blowing gently over your face, preventing you from overheating
last time I rode the DD with a tailwind I got there far too early and regretted having missed 3 hours of extra cycling, and the cafe was not yet open

Take some painkillers and ride through it. A first century isn't fun unless you have crippling neck and back pains. Ask chainbreaker. ;)

Thats the spirit soldier.
There was a bitch of a headwind that day too.

I'm now concerned that none of my three saddles will be remotely comfortable for this ride.
Fuck my gooch.

Chamois cream and Ibuprofen, man.

Whole thing out of the saddle is the only way.

Saddle dilemma? I can't decide which of my bikes to ride for this - it seems shame not to use the poncy road bike, with its variable transmission and freewheel mechanism, but the fixed commuter is so easy to ride, and has a built-in 3W power supply, and then there's the venerable 1980s Rockhopper Comp for carrying my swimming gear, picnic hamper and minibar...

The saddle will be comfortable after the ride - once you recover anyway

My spd-sl plate inserts have rusted through and pretty much lost all thread for the cleat bolts. Anyone know where I can get a spare pair in time for tomorrow?

I've never tried chamois cream but that stops chafing, right? This is more like someone whacking my gooch with a pool cue.
-
• #819
Yep, deep heat is a good substitute if you don't have any chamois cream.
-

120 miles without chamois cream will be a horrible experience. Your undercarriage will probably be a couple of mm thinner by the end of the night.

Is your saddle possibly too high?

Add rose hips & sand for additional benefit. -

Possibly, I've lowered it and that has helped a bit but might lower it 10mm or so.
Deep Heat sounds like a great idea thanks. I'll pop some in and around my eyes as well to prevent any pollen-related itching.

good move, peel a bit of ginger and stick it up the poopipe to aid with the lack of sleep as well
