I usually keep a small fleet of "disposable" bike around - i.e. bikes to be ridden to a location and then abandoned. Always the shittier breed of department store MTBs

Where do you find dirt cheap frames etc?
-
• #6982
Why would you do that? Maybe I'm a complete snob but I want my bike to fit me and be maintained so I know it's not going to fall apart. This couldn't be said about BSOs straight out the box let alone when they've been abandoned.

^^ - a dumpster is like a skip
^ - if it falls apart, he'll at least be further down the road than when he started; he was going to abandon it anyway.regardless, not promoting this

Not trying to be a dick or something but to me it looks like the red on the frame is paint and the grey/ white is raw alu not the reversed . The splatter pattern is almost to perfect to be masked/paint..
I've done some patinating/splatter effect on metal and it looks a bit like it, i could be wrong though.. ;-)
Im really interrested in how the owner of the frame achived this look..
I have a write up in the works that shows the steps involved. On short I used about 4 different colour layers and salt masking technique with a lot of sanding to get the right look of rust and decay, finished off with dry pigments.

yeah it was a total budget build - I have about $30 total invested right now (frame / fork and some other stuff was $10 at a garage sale) I may bartape it and put on road levers
