I'm not talking about busting through, Im talking about when you are a few meters from a zebra, and a ped walking along the pavement decides to turn into the road. Pulling an emergency stop in this situation would be silly. In fact I have done this on occasion and they stare at you like you are mad. I absolutely take your point about red lights though, no excuse.
