Being polite doesn't always achieve anything, but bluntly saying it's a piece of crap and over-priced is surprisingly effective. The only downside is that we have called someone's baby ugly and they are extremely likely to take it badly.
There's a fine line between being unnecessarily offensive to someone and yet being blunt enough to police the market and protect the masses... I'm unconvinced that stepped over the line, the seller is just being precious about their £550 Foffa.
