  • Amazing technique.

What does 'Solo M/C Only' mean?

Isn't that just a mason in a red jacket?

  • You're not allowed to park a motorbike with sidecar ie. solo motorbike only

  • Saw this a couple of times finally snapped it up. I am assured by locals that the bloke/sheila works in the shop right next to the rack but still made me cringe.

I go past this most days and there is always something locked up abysmally.

The stands aren't visible from within the shop and I don't think the cafe across the road will be much help if something gets lifted. It's pretty central too.

  • It would be difficult to lock to that without the result being abysmal.
if I HAD to I would rear wheel into the stand with a shackle through wheel and rear triangle, then mini D front wheel to the frame.

But TBH I'd keep riding a find somewhere else.

  • There are proper sheffield stands at the other end of the (quite short) street in this case, I think.

  • job done

  • I was unlocking at the stands next to Shoreditch High St overground station / box park yesterday. Bloke who was taking my place noticed the bike next to us was locked using a shite lock and that he'd left his keys in the lock - house keys and all. We discussed it for a bit but he was late to play footy so I said I'd hang about. Ten minutes later I'd made some phone calls. No sign of the owner so I left a note and handed the keys in to the ticket office at the station. Hope it ended well, the owner did his level best to get his shit nicked!

  • Make a good fishing shelter

  • ^^ That's amazing. Rear wheel not secured at all.

the keys for those locks are interchangeable anyway, so if he had lost them he could pop into halfords and try it out.

  • The bikes in florence weren't particularly pretty, but I don't think I've ever seen as many bikes just propped against walls. This was one of the better locked ones. I guess people just don't rob bikes over here.

When I was in Lucca I saw a cinelli vigorelli all kitted out and some other fixed gear bike I didn't identify cause was in a rush not locked to anything but each other and leaned against a wall. Legit anyone could have carried them off. They were also locked together with one of those 5 pound gummy locks. I guess bike theft isn't so problematic in Italy...

  • Strange as in in Rome people will steal your shirt off your back

  • Well, Rome is famous for bicycle thieves.

  • I heard from a guy there that Pisa is pretty bad for bike thieves too so maybe it was just cause it was in a small town.

  • Yeah, 'cos Pisa's tiny...

  • Yeah, 'cos Pisa's tiny...

The "cause it was a small town" referred to my previous post in which I mentioned the poorly locked up expensive bikes in Lucca. Perhaps I didn't use the best wording.

  • Always locked like this, overnight, to an 8' pole with a small parking restriction plaque on top.

  • Yeah but what kind of bastard would steal a silly childs bike?

  • I can think of many bastards

  • Wow. That's a little on the large side. How does one sort that out?

  • Get a smaller lock?
