  • Good call NH. It made the world of difference the first couple of trackdays that I did.

  • As I said to NH, my mum tried to teach me left foot braking
...ended up with a battered forehead and clutch :P
Caldwell will be so much fun

  • So basically,

  • LOL, yeah. I get where you're coming from, and I have a habit of doing things that will benefit for the 2 or 3 times a year I will go on a trackday.

  • Volvo Wagon goes 190mph! AKA Volvette outruns 04' Yamaha R1 - YouTube

"Enclosed Road" - a dubious claim when it's clearly a misty highway with traffic free flowing in the other direction...

  • ^ mini.jpg ?

    Nope.

  • Can anyone recommend an honest, reliable mechanic south of the river (SE1, SE11, somewhere central ish?) who preferably does VAG (golf mkIII in my case) but I suspect that any mechanic would be able to figure out the massive clonking on gear change 1/2/3 at low speed I am currently experiencing....

    thank you

  • Nope.
    Reliant Robin

  • Fiat over the pit at the MOT station today. Passed with flying colours :-)
They said they'd only ever had one car on with narrower track.. guess?

    BMW Isetta?

  • Just tapped the rear hatch and used a pair of M6 bolts to secure the number plate - no more rubbish adhesive pads that drop my numberplate in carparks.

  • E30 Tourings are not that big in the back. The rear suspension turrets and the side infill panels are a pain. Two bikes are difficult. Bur mine is very clean and shiny inside and out. Have even cleaned the engine bay and fixed the leaking thermostat housing with a new gasket. Then some nice new antifreeze the pink 5 year stuff.

Has some rusty spots that look like shitty metal/paint finish.

  • Top engine steady has ripped away from the bulkhead - fuck
Booked in for Monday to have an ultimate engine mount fitted
    Stupid rust

Does that mean the other engine mounts are passed best.

  • No, all the bushes were replaced last week with race bushes! I think that's what caused it to rip off! - minis only have one engine steady on the top

  • @buckaroo - heh, it was a 4-wheeler. Nurse, good shout, no way one of those would fit.

'Twas an Austin 7. The garage guys said the owner drives it on personally as the inside edges of the tyres overhang... eek

  • I saw one of those this evening and thought at once - bet it's one of those! - as I saw how close together the rear wheels are.

  • Isn't that the story of the person with the highest speed caught on UK roads?

    I was never caught!

  • Going to goodwood wooo!
    Lfgss wins again :D

  • Went today.

    Epic to say the least.

  • I like the smell of "engineering" when you stroll around the paddock.

The smell of petrol's good too...

  • Burnt racing fuel is the fragrance of kings.

Almost lost my head in the back of a 917k sniffing it.

  • Last year my old man said "breathe deeply boy, your kids won't get to experience this aroma".

    He's probably right.

And yes, I'm 38 and my old man still calls me "boy".

  • Love the old guard that run it. Christ knows where they are stored for the rest of the year, maybe with the cars.

Might post some pics once edited.

  • One thing I did notice for this forum in particular is that bikes on car roofs are in. All the major players trying to sell their vehicles with bikes as accessorises.
