Originally the Open was designed to grow with each subsequent year (never capping the number of teams), but last year proved this is perhaps a bad way to experience/showcase bike polo.
Traditionally 'Open' means 'non-invitational', so a cap isn't so bad (the bullshit "first come first served except for X, Y, Z teams" stuff has got to stop though, this has never been an issue in London, thankfully).
Giving the notice (and lack of Worlds in Europe), I think you'll struggle to get 72 teams, I imagine it will be an awesome tournament regardless.
