Yeah they don't really do urban hill climbs in Germany = no market. Probably would never have been organised in the first place. Makes sense.

Such a shame. In the past the locals seemed to be very supportive as far as I could tell, with plenty coming out to watch.

I don't think it was a matter of the locals being truly uppity. Just the council didn't tell anyone and it's a simple case of logistics. Having to make an entire street "clean" in a day is not as easy as it sounds.
