Is this just an impression or based on something? My "research" says this is not the case with Tiagras pre-4501. (The 4501 was released to be a double specific version of the 4500, which was not. The 4503 was a re-branded 4500 as far as I can tell that claimed to be triple, but could still be used with doubles by locking out the mech).
