  • If in doubt go for a saddle like the turbo or rolls with a large stack height but you really won't have a problem.

  • Thanks for the help guys, going to order an xl pomp this weekend, will post a pic when im finally finished with the build.

  • In case testers weight leaves you unsure, I'm 116kg (18stone) and am yet to break a frame at the seat tube.

  • Following on from the earlier discussion, I went ahead and put the 26s on the pompetamine with the 140 cranks, I'll see how it rolls tomorrow night at Newington. Tyres are 1.25..

  • Looks good kev!

  • Dunno, felt a bit sluggish (riding around my flat) last night...

I'll need to trim down that steering tube if the bars feel right at that height, otherwise I'll end up impaling my chest...

  • Is there any possibility that an XL-pompino will fit to my 6'6 inches? I am riding a 62cm Steamroller and would love to built up an inexpensive cantilever-cross-frame. I just doubt the 57,5cm top-tube will fit to my body :(

  • I'm 6'4" on an XL with a 110mm stem, which feels comfortable. I am however all legs.

  • If it helps, I'm 6'4" and have a 35" inside leg. My Pompino fits fine with a 110 stem and about 240ish showing on the no-name seat post. been like that most of the winter and all's still good - no cracks. I would think (assuming you're not a Baboon) you would be fine up to 6'6" and 36".

  • Thanks for your answers! Would love to hear from more riders esp. if anyone ever rode a Steamroller and can compare the size.

I dont think I am a baboon but I am no T-Rex either. Considering the pompinos prize I think buying a used one wouldnt cause too many trouble if it doesnt fit in the end.

  • PX just posted this pic in FB

We're extremely pleased with the new Kaffenback bike we're launching tomorrow. This spec will be just £849.99

  • £849.99 for that looks like cracking value

  • Also available with properly fitted tubes!

  • I use mine off road, tyres at 40 psi, kore cantilevers, midge bars, free 35 x 18 gear....confuses the hell out of mountainbikers on full suss rigs!
    photos soon!

Am considering getting a pompino frame to replace damaged charge plug, and transferring components across, I'm 5ft 8, the charge is a small 53cm, can anyone confirm what size pompino I should go for?
    Thanks Gregg

  • According to the sizing guide on the website you'll need an M.

The frame size of the pompino is a little smaller than most due to the compact geometry.

  • Thank you
I realise this thread is all about the pompino but does anyone have any advice for le im looking for a replacement frame for my broken framed charge plug? I want something light, for a simple daily commute across London. I'm looking at the pompino, brick lane bikes track frame, langster or maybe a dolan? I'm not at all technical so all i really want is something Robust and reliable that is going to be easy for me to transfer across all of my components on the charge
Any advice would be very welcome
    Thanks
    Gregg

  • Any ideas why pomps aren't for sale on their site? Forks are mega cheap

I'm toying between a pomp and the Tokyo fixed dream machine. But they weighh the same frame and forks.

  • Basically I'm looking to build up a cheap winter bike 1 gear but it'll also be a lot of fun to ride.

They are, you were just looking at the wrong page.
    http://www.on-one.co.uk/i/q/FROOPV3/on_one_pompino_frame_2012
lists stock in all sizes of blue and white

  • Pomps wayyy cheaper...

  • Thank you

A pompino is by far the cheapest way to achieve that. I don't think you'll regret it.

  • You'll need to change the brakes, everything else will just swap across I think. Pompinos are awesome.

  • Ah yes, good point re. the brakes.

Also I presume the Plug has 120 rear spacing and a 27.2mm seatpost?

  • Also what size does the pomp come up in? At frist glance I thought I'd need an XL but the L has an ETT of 55.5 and my Ti is 56 so I think I'd go for that.
