  • Yes, they did a nice job on the M3 with the E46.

  • I saw one of the new M6 Gran Coupes in blue with German plates on TCR yesterday - looked amazing like some crazy executive batmobile

  • The 'Unassuming' BMW M5

Never thought I'd quote this particular member, but excellent.

For me, the E28 and E30 were the pinnacle of BMW styling.
I always liked the way the real M5 was really subtle and only the M535i had the boy racer bodykit.

I will own an E28 M5 one day. I was offered one about a year before I left the UK and decided against purchasing it. Which is probably a good thing in all honesty.

They did. I like these too.

One of my favourites is the E46 M3 Converable

M cars aren't supposed to be convertibles.

I wanted an E39 M5 when I moved here, but finding one was a real challenge. There were some real stinkers offered, but i decided against any of them. I like that particular model because they're often thought of as the last "proper" M car. No need for any of that turbo malarkey...

  • Indeed - E46 M3 is lovely - especially the CSL (despite its SMG only gearbox)

    Love that raspy engine note

  • I like the lines...

No need for a turbo on an E61 M5 - a 5 litre V10 should be enough for most people. I'm becoming highly tempted by the idea of getting the Touring version, with a tow bar. Should be a rather handy all-rounder, and I think my Scooby is dying so it might be time for a change.

  • do it do it - we had for a bit the saloon and the sound was literally incredible - far nier than most other V10 noises (except for the LFA's)

  • I've seen one running twin centrifugal superchargers (to avoid having to find room/fuck around with exhaust manifolds I guess), looked quite neat but again due to space constraints there wasn't much room for intercooling so I imagine the amount of boost would be strictly limited unless running on methanol.

  • Can always do it like this:

    810hp apparently....

allegedly the lag isnt too bad, as the pipework acts like an airbox

  • Gah!!! I want a car! Missus says no... this is a form of slow torture!

  • Same solution for Lexus ISF

    twiiiinnn turboooooo
    640hp @ 6psi

    Twinscroll turbo Legacy estate?

  • Can someone explain to me how having Turbo's that far back actually work? I thought a turbo needed cold air forced in from the front to work. I've seen afew cars set up like this but surely when they're that far back you actually lessen the effect by a considerable amount?! It always confuses me...

  • so i figured i'd post some of my old cars before i started posting about my current project... here it goes.

    my old mk2 golf;

    and my old mk2 jetta;

    notice a theme?

    My current project, Mk2 golf.

how it was collected, had been sat for around 7 years.

after a polish it came up very nice

but not nice enough, decided to get a couple of small bits of rust sorted and a couple of panels painted but that soon turned into a full stripdown and respray.

on route to the bodyshop, its only a mile down the road so no need for a trailer.

and got it back from the bodyshop last week and this is what it currently looks like!

rear wiper and small rear badge holes gone

also lost the LHD wiper hole, wing ariel and side repeaters

now its time for the rebuild and i've kinda lost all momentum haha. I have coilovers and wheels waiting to go on but i'm missing some small trim parts that are proving a pain in the arse.

  • engine for my drag car half way done. my e85 carb arrived recently, really nice. dizzy and mech fuel pump should be here shortly (they will fill the holes in the front)

simplified fuel system to small cell in the bay.

  • By the look of your previous cars, this one should be a cracker. Was the white Mk2 on air or is that a static drop?
I've had quite a few vw's (2 x Mk2 Gti's, a Jetta, a Mk2 Polo Coupe and a G60 'rado) in the past and still see the appeal. Would love something air cooled though!

  • all on coilovers! I had the jetta on air for a little while and I hated it.

The white mk2 was a pain in the arse that low but the black one is likely to end up the same.

loving the a8 steelies on that mk2. i presume they're 5 stud and you were running widetrack?

  • Some German filth for you lot

  • ^ awesome!

cheers man, audi wheels were 5x112 originally. welded and redrilled to 4x100 so a straight fit.

I have some similar audi a6 winter wheels that will most likely make there way onto the black one at some point

  • Jetta was the winner. Real nice.

    nice.

i'm planning a dream mk2 in my head at the moment - auq engine conversion, possibly widetracked, black compomotive th, etc etc..

    just a pipedream, alas!
