...and yes, if it wasn't for all these stupid moral and ethical barriers within me, I would want to kill anyone nicking my bike.

"all these stupid moral and ethical barriers within me"
Did you not break these as well?
-
• #10629
I suppose I did... Yes, I did! Don't remember it really, but yes, I have indeed crossed those barriers.

Wanted to say something clever about how war is different, but really it isn't. Surely, sometimes you fight in selfdefense, but overall it doesn't justify my actions.

Hello - I have two wheels pinched last night. Mach 1 Omega with white rims from Londonfields. If anyone sees a pair can you let me know? Rear one has a flipflop hub.
Just incase...hey?! -

Hey, I've got a bit of a curious story regarding my stolen bike and wondered if any of you have been in similar situations and could offer any advice..? Bit of a long post, but bear with me...
Our house was burgled a month ago (live in Holloway) and my single speed was pinched. I filed a report with the police the next day.
Imagine, as I turned onto my street 10 days ago, my shock to see a short, but absolute bruiser of a geezer (very distinctive tattoos, haircut, clothing) wheeling my bike down our road! Got some real bad vibes coming from this guy so I followed him at a distance to see where he went but managed to lose him. Did he go into a house a few streets away? Why was he wheeling it? (Unless he was close to home or bike was damaged?)
This was 100% my bike and, updating the police and crime ref, I know now to call 999 if I see anyone with it again. It's Bike Registered so could prove it belonged to me.
I was more annoyed at this bit of pantyhose lady luck had flashed me than the initial burglary!
Then, two days ago, I saw a person fitting the same description as the initial bike wheeler leaving a shop, not with my bike unfortunately, but with another guy with a tool bag who kept 5 paces behind him as they walked up the road (they had exchanged a few sentences so were obviously together. Something didn't add up by the way they were dressed differently to each other, plus keeping five paces apart, the same area...
I can't say that this bloke actually stole my bike or that he's a thief but, by all accounts, it looks like he's up to no good.
I'm thinking of going to the police station to see if anyone with the distinctive tattoos, haircut, etc is known to them. My only worry is that he's pooling the bike with other people or has sold it now so even if I could find out who he is, I wouldn't necessarily be able to recover the bike.
Thoughts?
Cheers,
Spicer -

a geezer (very distinctive tattoos, haircut, clothing)
SpicerOOL? Was one tattoo a Specialized S behind his right ear?
After all he is a toad and does live in the area and in my mind fit the description.

It looks like this:
Hi guys, last night Sarah Weir from Brixton Cycles had her cargo bike was stolen from a locked court yard in SE17. Please keep an eye out and forward this message if you can. It is a dark green Bullitt cargo bike with a black Rohloff hub and dynamo lights. Coloured spacers on the steerer. May still have a huge brown wooden box on the front. You can reach Sarah on 07784861776.

So, last night my old Dave Quinn was stolen from my friend's yard in Walworth Road. He'd been borrowing it for a few months because his bike had been had away.
Tatty black orange and yellow paint and half chrome stays, 531c tubing, odd geometry ST 63 c-c tt 55 c-c. The rear bridge had been clumsily welded back on leaving some obvious colouring on the chome. Mavic Aksium front wheel, Miche Xpress rear, Stronglight crankset, Cinelli Criterium drops and Cinelli stem. 1 drop lever on RHS. Brown Bucket saddle.
Pretty distinctive in all its ratty glory.

Fucking thieving cunts... :(

This is going to be an increasing problem in the next few years, as so many people are getting cargo bikes, and they're high value. Hope Sarah gets hers back.

Will be on the lookout. Hope you find this excellent machine.
What kind of green is it? That pic looks black, amiright?

^Same theft. They were locked together.
Edit: To each other.
Ways not to lock your bike.

General description (nothing
Specific) of what Sarah looks like? So we know what to look for and who should be on it. Also any distinguishing marks, stickers, mods to the bike? I've started seeing these quite frequently so might help people. -
• #10645
Downer. Still, should stand out like a big dog's cock.
-
• #10646
Skully, it's a dark forest green. Chak, Sarah has dark hair, and would more than likely be carrying her dog in the box on the front.

Sarah normally uses this bike to transport her lovely border collie Ben Nevis. She's not had a lot of luck lately, so retrieving this bike would be so so good. Its almost her mobile home as she's between flats. Please please keep your eyes peeled for this very unique bike.

It's probably quite unlikely as it's such a distinctive bike, but it's worth keeping an eye on East Street market at the weekend - I'll see if I spot it out and about in Walworth. Was it taken from Pullens Yard?
Aside from the fact that I seriously hate thieves, one of the beauties of riding a bike is that you can go virtually anywhere (within a certain perimeter), at anytime without having to worry about traffic or parking. Only if you do decide to park you can't blink your eyes or turn your back before some fucking bastard nicks your bike.
As for the above post, while I am rather sceptical, I didn't mean to suggest that bike theft isn't being taken seriously by the police, since honestly I have no idea, hence the question.
