  • Yep, splashed out on those pedals, definitely putting them on my road bike when i build one, many miles in vans and no 'aches and pains' at all, that id usually get from track pedals.

Brand new Cinelli Criterium from Wiggle (wish i got some Nitto's but i didn't have a Vivalo at the time)

  • Take the bar apart, have a good look at the clamp area to see any tell tales mark on it.

Alternately, if you have a spare stem, you can always put the Cinelli bar on it to see what happen, but it's very likely to be the handlebar.

  • splashed out on those pedals

have you seen the price of the ones they're based on?

  • Yeah the price on those is ridiculous! quality on the MKS ones don't seem much more impressive that GR-9's as well. But the only real down side to the mks pedals is thick straps are a bitch to get it and i had to ziptie the second one to hold it in place, almost stabbed my hand trying to squeeze the strap in the hole.

one thing that makes me wonder is the Cinelli bars like a double layer of tubing by the stem, no idea what you call it, so i wonder if that's damaged from over tightening.

  • Picked up this Dawes Galaxy off the bay recently in hope to use it as a commuter / cruiser... Turned out to be a ruddy bargain, and in pretty much brand new condition, having done around 200 miles in total. I've only put some on new cork grips from Kinoko and some Berthoud mudguards so far, but hoping to find a rack that'd suit the bike.

Basically I need to get a D Lock and a 15" laptop to and from the studio each day, but not set on a rear rack if a front rack might do.

Seen the Velo Orange Constructeur, but not sold on it, especially as the bikes got all the rack braze-ons so keen to use them. Also tried a few vintage racks on it, but a no-go with the cantilever brakes.

    Any thoughts?

  • "MKS Urban pedals? got the same one on my audax bike, really comfortable and so easy to flip to get in."

Would they work with Restrap horizontal straps or similar?

  • Edit: Also... radially laced front a bad idea for bumpy country roads? Might pop a different one on.

I use radial 16 spoke RS80-C24 off road, and I'm over 15st at the mo

  • Would they work with Restrap horizontal straps or similar?

Nope, barely got double straps on there

  • Thought not :(

Not that I'll be needing pedals for a while.

    Nice looking ride there.
With a 15" laptop I'd either go with a courier bag or the Carradice A4 on a cheap alu rear rack.

  • I would never put a laptop in any pannier unless it is one without a HDD. Wayyyy too many vibrations.

  • Major padding required, obviously, but my neighbour did exactly that without incident for years until his pannier hook failed. His Toshiba survived the fall.

  • Wouldn't be able to get the diagonal ones on either and you can only fit the toe clip one side

  • yeah it's solid state... but i didn't even think that putting it in a pannier would cause problems.

  • I've never post my first anti here...

  • Has anyone else ever suffered 'post-build slump' ?

I had an initial really happy day or so after a build, but now I've gone on a downer.

  • the joys of scouring the net for parts is no more. Ride it, enjoy it!

  • Sounds like it's time for a new project!
