Been off the bike for two and a half weeks (got married, moved house, the usual) so I've been itching to go for a ride.

I wasn't in the mood for riding, probably due to having some very satisfying saddle time on Thursday night, so I went for an amazing walk with Mrs Fix instead.
It was that good, I'm tempted to fuck off this place and join a ramblers' forum*.

Went out with what is left of Brixton Cycles CC today- the majority of regulars being either at the Pellegrino Sportive or the Etape.
We did a quick 40 miles, out via Cudham and in via Titsey, remarkable for the weather being so hot and that Fenella came out with us for the first time.
Fun.

Topped up my tan this weekend. With some added sunstroke, for good measure.

50 miles up to the Mundsley coast and back. Fucking glorious sunshine. 21c by 7:30 the morning. Lanes were void of any motor vehicles. Lovely descending the winding coast road alongside the sea with the cooling breeze in your face. Carrot cake at cafe stop was lush too.

One of my favourites today, a 75 miler.
Out of Manchester to Saddleworth, Greenfield then Denshaw, then the A640 over the moors. Turn off over Scammonden Bridge, then the back roads via Rishworth to Blackstone Edge.
Longest descent down to Mytholmroyd and then Hebden Bridge, stopped for a bacon and egg butty and tea.
Then off home via Todmorden, Bacup and Rochdale.

Back in time for ITV4 tour coverage too, which was nice. -

Been focussing on HHV this summer so haven't managed many long rides. Needed to check my legs were up to dunwich so headed out for a rolling century this morning.
6 hrs, 12 mins rolling time and 102 miles done and I am feeling nicely reassured about the dynamo.

Liverpool-Chester-Liverpool 50 miler on Sunday; lovely weather, lots of people, closed off Mersey tunnels fresh for breaking the speed limit. Fantastic.

Another bash at a three peaks walk and cycle (It stops this evening, I'm off to Glen Nevis right now). The best bit so far was confronting an ENORMOUS Tesco in the middle of the night.

This weekend I went to Clunker Classic. Annoyingly I couldn't be there on the friday night for lots of drinking/crashing/throwing rocks at rocks as I was working. I didn't get home until 3am on friday night. Remembering that I'd promised to get a bike ready for someone and I was still wide awake I went down to see what I could find. About and hour of quiet fiddling I came up with this monstrosity -
I was riding the same bike as last year, with the addition of operational brake pads.
I managed to get an hour of sleep in the car. We arrived at about 11 and as soon as the bikes were out of the car and built we were in the pub. Even with 50+ people turning up at a pub all at once the bar staff coped quite well. 3 pints later and we were walking up the hill. Cheese and crackers at the top of the hill and a look at the view before hooning it back down again.
Here's a video someone made of the race down. You see me coming past on the right at 3:15 into the video

I managed 10th and my brother managed to win it!
All in all a good weekend. -

Does it barspin?

Emma (the girl who had to ride it) has a bad wrist so she rotated the bars upwards. I found it almost unrideable with the bars how she had them!
There were some toe overlap and ground clearance issues

Thanks.
Out at 7am to get into the hills relying on 2 x 7 miles per day commuting as a base for a hilly 60miles.
Out via Adlington and up to Nab Quarry, then the holy trinity of Brickworks (dead badger near bottom stank), Windgather (accompanied by a skylark singing) and the Goyt Valley up to the Cat n Fiddle rd.

Turn right to Macc and I'd be home for 10 as promised*, so I turned left to Buxton, over Long Hill to W.Bridge, up Reservoir Rd climb to Disley, and over Unnecessary Hill (leaves the A6 only to rejoin it again after the climb and descent).
Going through Hazel Grove decided to detour to Pollocini Cafe for some rainbow jersey cake & espresso, then a gentle ride back via Stockport.
Slow average as the 60 took just shy of 4hrs moving, happy to be solid over all the climbs though will try work out total ascent later. Top descent speed 41mph, must pedal harder.
If that's the only road ride I get this summer, I won't mind a bit as it was as close to perfection on a ride as can be, after last summers washout.
Edit: cake
