There's excuses and there's excuses. There is never a reason to have Contis on your bike and not being able to change gear is another fault of your mechanic..
I do love a good sprint finish. :)

The ski slope at the beginning of the a40 course :-)
I had a dodgy start and had to soft pedal the first few pedal strokes so as not to go under a truck. Then the finish seemed to arrive sooner than expected so I might have been able to give a bit more then too.
Overall, reasonably satisfied, I think I'm seeing some progress.

Dodgy? As in wobbly or as in you had to wait for traffic? I tend to keep an eye on my distance done. This of course doesn't help when you pull up short in a 100 because the finish line isn't the guy that says "finished" yada yada..

Just ordered GP4000S and I am my mechanic: hey ho...
-

Traffic at the start, so that was beyond my control. The finish was my fault... Like a dunce I mis-calculated miles into km. I will work on my arithmetic for next time.

I know, but it wasn't so obvious at km 15. It's like the time I had to stop half way through an IM run to find an english speaker who I could ask how long a marathon was.

If your brain can work past one decimal place you're not riding fast enough.

It's only 90m difference in a 10, but in a 100 do you really want to stop nearly a kilometre too soon (again)

Depends if someone's sitting by the side of the road with a clipboard or similar calling "finished" at me. I don't stare at the computer I just use it for a rough guide.

Anyway, it wasn't fast enough so I went a did it again properly.

58.54 despite going straight ahead at the turn roundabout. Must read course descriptions more carefully.

26:45, or nearly one and a half minutes better than last week!
Best bit: not getting caught by my minute man who was all carbon fibre and pointy hat.

First ever 10 at the Redbridge / Hog Hill Circuit. 28:08, beating my brother by a minute, priceless.

Snap. Although I haven't seen my time yet and I reckon it was more around the 32 minute mark...
Too many chips. -

My new toy. Need to get my position dialed.

Based on Dr Coggan's test results, I'd lay money that your front brake cable alone generates more drag than my entire braking system.

^ ooo get Mrs my gear is better than yours!
Weather and pump permitting I'm going to rock up to h10/2 assuming that its possible to enter an the interclub comp?
So after standing on a corner in a hi-viz for all the club sponsored events and the open I finally got to ride last night.
Hippy said something about getting your excuses in early: 25mm Gatorskins, no aero bars, trouble getting on the big ring yadda, yadda.
Anyway, 28:11: best bit was when I caught my minute-man in sight of the finish line and we duked it out to the bitter end!
Just ordered some skinnier rubber and I'm in touch with Profile in the States who have dug up a doo-dah which will allow me to use DTS on aero bars...
