  • Frighteningly ugly frame!

    #killitwithfire

  • I know most will love them but I can't abide hetchins stays!

  • I know most will love them but I can't abide hetchins stays!

    +1
Fecking hate their lugs too. And engine-turned aluminium. And anything Steampunk. Über-tarty shite like that can generally >>>>>>>>>>

  • Me too, I like some fancy lugs I've seen but Hetchins ones tend to be over done and end up looking a real mess.

  • Do you know the history behind the stays and lugs?

  • I know most will love them but I can't abide hetchins stays!

Indra... You will burn in hell for that comment!!!

  • Do you know the history behind the stays and lugs?

Yes and I still think they're ugly as fuck.

  • Yeah Indra, i'm with you on that one. Also hate the modern Pinarello equivalent.

  • ugh me too

  • To me, saying that you think all Hetchin's are ugly as fuck, is like saying that Picasso's paintings are all shite...

If you pride yourself in such ignorance then I can't comment further.

  • ^ truth.

  • I never said all Hetchin's were ugly, I just hate the stays.

The same way I don't like the beatles, does it make me ignorant? Not really it's just a matter of opinion.

  • Whats the history behind them?

  • I love this one.

  • Whats the history behind them?

To work as basic shock absorbers like a curved fork blade but on the rear.

  • ^Thanks. Not mad about them either (the stays). Your opinion is wrong if you don't like the beatles though indra

  • Then again, maybe I'm biased, as I have a curly Hetchin's with fancy lugs, in a very similar red as the one you posted...

  • Ha no way?

    Let's see it then.

  • To work as basic shock absorbers like a curved fork blade but on the rear.

I thought this was the BS reason and it was actually from a time when you couldn't have branding. The stays made the bikes distinctive enough to be recognised without branding.

  • What Hugo said... Cycles used in racing were not allowed to be branded, so makers found ways of setting their frames apart, Hetchin's with the stays and elaborate lugs, other builders built dodgy forks, flying gates, bendy seat tubes etc....

  • ^all tubes bend

  • Indeed James, indeed... Not all as much as your favourite Lynskey though.

  • bib shorts. if you want to wear bib shorts buy a road bike suck a bag of cocks and wear bibs
