Does anyone street camp in theirs? I just pull up, climb into the back and go to bed, that's not weird is it? I've done it all over uk, France and Germany and never had any problem.

I've done it. Wild Camping site is good for POI's for known 'wild' spots

I'm a bit anti wild camping, alone in a forest is a bit dodgy. I usually find a spot in a nice part of town, (this was tricky in Cardiff recently) and make sure I'm not too near a pub.

Alone in a forest is best place to be! Unless there are bad bwoys a glance, nothing can hurt you/eat you /bite you in UK

Eightball - how much would a van like that cost roughly?
Assuming it was all in decent nick and mechanically sound?
-
• #58
Yeah, not fussed by bears, by I used to look for quiet places in the country (420) and am just rather aware that others may think similarly. I don't want to end up in a dogging spot either

Dogging spot you say......?
Where might they be then? .0)
Mine will get its first run out tomorrow...

Ronnie - Mine was £3500 beat him down from £3800 - S plate with 116,000 on the clock (I think) which isn't much for a 1.9TD engine, basically service them, they go on for a long time - that's with Audi rep rims and tyres, lowered suspension, leisure battery, rock and roll bed (double), vinyl flooring, upholstery, curtains, speakers in the back, lighting etc etc. Plus he had basically resprayed it himself before I bought it

Interesting. I'm having my first ever driving lesson on Monday, prob being a bit premature but really getting a hankering for camper.....

I miss the type 2 air cooled vibe, but this is so much more practical - can use as everyday vehicle easy

Nice deal, think I might have to take a bit of a hit selling mine. Will be sad to see it go.

71 early bay Westfalia here. Imported from South Africa (for RHD and rustlessness) by me before they were expensive.
I couldn't justify spending the £10k+ they are now, I'd have a T4 van and convert it instead.

I don't have a camper, but I do have an old Land Rover 110 with a roof rack. This is boarded so I can either pitch a dedicated roof tent, which is big and has viewing on all four sides, or any ordinary little tent, or if properly sneaking in somewhere I have some old scrim netting which I can throw over the whole thing and bivvy on the roof. I have a couple of dogs who sleep in the back to give plenty of security.
Obviously none of this would work in a city.

I've fallen in love with this van - only sold a few months ago. I really, really want one.

That looks like something a murderer would use for sport - 'Lamping' escaping victims.

^ nice looking bus :0)
To be fair, some handle and drive better than others.....my new one is tight as a drum, steering wise, but a bit of porridge stirring to get some gears..... First job is to replace all the bushings along the linkage, and If that doesn't work, some form of empi/gene berg/scat shifter, to reduce the throw.
I just need a name for mine now!
I love the commer highwayman too.......they're proper scarce.
