  • Yeah, got it in the sale at Evans. The yellow tyres will be gone eventually.

Very satisfied - it rides very nicely indeed.

Thinking of picking up one of these when our bike to work scheme finally starts.
How is the gearing on it? Would someone new to riding fixed struggle on 46/15?

also if anyone can recommend some decent anti puncture tires that would fit on this that would be great.

  • anti puncture! I would like to know where such thing can be found.

Mine came with 48x16 which was a bit big for me (going over the hills in Richmond Park). 46x15 is bigger than that and seems pretty big to me unless you've got giant legs or like to pedal at 75rpm.

Easiest solution for me was to swap to 48x18 which works nicely but I like to spin my legs. If I had a 46 on the front I'd go with a 17 I think.

I'm thinking about this as well.

Schwalbe Marathon 25 mm should be safe...but everyone I'm asking says they are really slow.

  • Go for Durano plus

  • Is there anyone who compared the classic vs. the 2.1 so steel vs alu while same dimensions?

  • my 2013 track classic w/ cheap everything. super happy with it.

  • Good job man, that look real smart.

Your saddle is quite far forward thought!

  • Suggestions appreciated re the following... I'm swapping a few bits out on my Classic - saddle and seat post done - now want to have a chrome/leather look front end too. I prefer drops to other style bars and the position in the photo gives me the most comfort riding on the ramps which is where I prefer to be. Are there any bars which would give me this slight upward angle on the ramps but without the hooks and the drops pointing upwards so much? Thanks

  • get bullhorns. Or put some levers with hoods on your bars.

  • ^^ you could flip and cut those bars.

That's a very upright position. Was a track bike the best idea?

  • ^ This.

Would recommended the brake levers route, Condor Cycles sell a set for £20.

  • This is such a good thread

Maybe not but I wanted a FG for around town and this was too good a bargain at Evans to pass up. I'd rather have drop bars as they've more positions around the bends and down the ramps. I was planning to lose the back brake too so maybe not levers/hoods. I was thinking of going for compact drops which would bring the drop section further back and let me use those too - maybe Condor Strada bars

The forks look good, are they standard now?

  • Fuji Make great looking bikes!

I would like to dibs whatever you're selling.

  • I bought a classic track from Evans about a month ago and I'm still a bit shocked at how much I enjoy riding fixed. The first couple of days were a bit odd but I already much prefer it to my road bike which would have been three times the price when new.

Other than changing the neon yellow tyres for gatorskins so far all I've changed is the saddle. The stock one was terrible, easily the worst I've ever sat on. I enjoy the bike enough that I'd be happy to spend a bit of money improving it and I'm curious as to a wheel upgrade. I've never purchased wheels before so I'm not sure how big the potential benefit is.

Would a set of the £144 V-sprint wheels be a noticeable improvement? It seems cheap for a wheelset but it's close to half of the cost of the bike.

  • I'm thinking of building up my unused Fuji track classic frame for my girlfriend to ride. I was thinking it might be nice with a freewheel, all silver components and some swept back bars. Does anyone have any examples of a similar build for me to peruse?

  • Everyone seems to have bought a classic... am I a twat to have bought a 2.1?
Only went for the alu for the lighter weight...

  • obvs.

  • Does the lighter weight lead to more radical skids?

To come clean, I mostly just want to build it up like this because I miss riding the Fuji and reckon this'd be fun......

  • Any photos of a classic track with the largest tyres on that its possible to fit?

    Quite fancy a beater/bruiser
