Great Gatsby: Total steaming pile. Effects heavy, cliched portrayal of the era replete with shit hip-hop music and general disregard for the source masterwork.
Behind the Candelabra: Brilliant performances but light on story. Funny and moving in places but no real depth to the potentially fascinating characters. Not entirely successful as a film but worth seeing.
Man of Steel: Invincible people smash into buildings for two hours in order to save the earth. Really repetitive, heavy on the sci-fi and bereft of any humour whatsoever. Kevin Costner is quietly brilliant but underused.
World War Z: You know those films where a plague of zombies attack urban environments? Well this is one of those. But a big one that's well executed if a bit familiar.
