• There seems to be a lot of missinformation/understanding about multi point spark plugs. Its not 4 sparks at a plug, the current will take one path, the path of least resistance. In a four point plug it just has four options instead of one. This means less wear on the plug hence lasting longer. The flame propogation is the same.

    In some engines there are other reason such as reducing a hot spot in the piston combusion surface or higher compression as the plugs are physically shorter

    I had multipoint plugs in my M3 once and had to remove them. Absolute shit.

    The R32 had multipoint plugs and when they were removed the tips were black.

    I'll never use them again - platinum all the way from here on in.
