  • The thing is from what I understand, morgasm may have only met the guy that once to hand over the bike. This cubism chap should then have sent it on as per the agreement but he has blatantly stolen it. It needs someone who knows or has dealt with cubism aka daniel prendergast to provide an address so the theft can be reported to the police / someone goes round and punches him in the throat.

  • I would ask Velocio to offer his details to the police, so that they can ask him directly about the personal details of those involved.

  • 99,9% sure this is him as he had been living in Sweden for a time and there's a Swedish group this profile belongs to.

And yes krankers is right; morgasm isn't the one I'm after here apart from if he happens to have any information regarding cubism (Daniel Prendergast).

  • There's one pretty low res picture of him there (with the dog), perhaps morgasm would kindly give his opinion as to whether or not it looks like him. Although even if it was a positive ID, not sure there's any more info there to be working on!

  • tewms - have you asked chris_tim if he's got any contact details for him? They're "friends" on their profiles on here.

  • I now have cubism's number thanks to gaz1979 who had been to see a frame that cubism was selling. gaz was not sure it was the right number but it's the best guess he could have going back through his call logs.

I'm going to call the number at some point. But first I have to figure out if long distance calls are very expensive, though at this point I've lost so much money a call probably wont matter much. Even so there might be some blocks on my current contract so I have to figure that out.

Thanks to all in here who have been helpful and I'll keep you posted if there are any new developments.

    Tom

edit: a bit of googling has found old gumtree ads where the ads were signed "Daniel" followed by the phone number so I'm quite certain it's his.

  • use google voice to call him then no area/country code will come up when you ring. Plus it's very cheap, esp. from scandinavia.

I really think you'd be better calling the police or something and asking them to call-he's only going to hang up on you and you have no way of enforcing anything, whereas if the police have a name and a number they can easily get an address and he'll shit himself and cough up either bike or cash.

Either way good luck, shit thing to happen and a reminder to be very careful on classifieds here.

  • Just wondering who I should report it to and since I'm in Finland, how? Calling the UK police? Do they even care since I'm not a citizen?

This is turning out to be even more of a headache now when I got his number.

  • I don't think you have to be a citizen for a crime to have been done to you! I would ring the Met Police, i'm sure they have a number on their website, make a report and tell them you know name and phone number. Not sure they'll do much but there's a chance, plus it's a useful step in case of any future trouble.

As I said I'm in london and any help I can be, let me know

  • Tried calling Met Police but damn are they slow on the phone or what.. Also they gave me some random code at the end and I didn't catch what it was about but she felt it important enough for me to write down. Anyway dunno what it is, anyone have an idea?

Anyway after 13 minutes out of which 12 minutes was waiting they directed me to call Action Fraud instead, whose lines are closed until tomorrow. I shall call them monday afternoon and we'll see if there's anything that can be done.

I tried calling Daniel directly as well but it rings a couple of (10 or so) times and then goes to voicemail.

  • that random code is the crime number

  • So I called Action Fraud today, and they told me there's no fraud that has taken place and told me to call Met Police again and re-explain my situation.

So I did that as well and they told me to contact my local authorities because I'm a victim in Finland.

Not sure what good that's going to do to have a police force halfway around Europe trying to figure out what happened to Daniel Prendergast (cubism)...

Turning out to be one big joke now. Pissed off.

Anyway let's see how good lfgss.com can sniff out information: Daniel Prendergast, South East London, postcode: se23 1jz, phone number: 07708040309

That's all I got going through my logs.

    Can Velocio get his address?

  • Have you tried contacting anyone who bought off him from this thread to see if they remember his address?

  • Stondon Park is the road for that postcode. Might jog some memories.

Also a Daniel Prendergast, a blacksmith on Deptford high street 2.7 miles from SE23.

  • God knows what it's based on but this result throws up http://directory.myhammer.co.uk/profile/heritage-london

  • Based on evaluating the above data in a Columbo like manner...

Is this your bike thief? Doesn't look like your average toerag but morgasm might be able to confirm.

  • Bloody blacksmiths, coming here, stealing our bikes...

    grumble

  • Going by his skype profile picture that is definitely not him.

  • Maybe a good thing-I wouldn't want to fuck with a dude that's throwing that hammer around every day anyway!

  • He's probably alright if you're just horsing around.

  • Sorry, shouldn't have tried to shoe that one in.

  • Second thoughts, he looks like a bit of a smelt.

  • Meanwhile, he's thinking 'is that an anvil in your pocket or are you just pleased to see me?'

  • Sorry, my humour's gotten a bit tarnished, but it should burnish up nicely with some consistent buffing from the right role model.
