  • Yup, my first audax! Have you got your route sheet through yet? I emailed the guy and he emailed back to say I was confirmed as registered but not yet got any paper documentation.

  • The sightseer has a very detailed route sheet. He did some last minute changes last year which may be the case again this year.

  • Yeah, I've seen the vague route and there must be hundreds of changes through the various London streets. I bet the avg. speed is about 10mph or something? You can't get a head of steam up.

Also are you the Arup who builds wheels? I might like to speak to you about that :)

  • Yes, I'm wheelbuilding Arup. More than happy to chat about wheels.

There were quite a few info controls last year with people stopping to count the no. of steps down to the river and wandering around a Pizza Hut to find what the colour of the sign was. I got lost about 4 times. Some sections of the route is on cobbled streets and areas where there are pedestrians such as tow paths, so yeah, it's not a speedy route.

  • I'm doing the Buzzard too.

    Don't you dare leave me.

    entered?

currently wavering towards the overnighter on the 12th - Herewards the Wake

  • Already entered months ago in order to prevent this "changing of mind" lark from happening.

Have a family friend living in LB, need to ask permission (also a cyclist which helped).

  • We're running a 200km randonee as part of Orbital Cycling Festival - starts from Look Mum No Hands - event dubbed 'Cafe to Cafe - Look Mum No Sleep!' - http://orbitalfestival.com/audax/calling-all-randonneurs/

  • Best of luck to anyone who's five minutes away from starting the Pendle. Challenging route, challenging weather.

    Here here.

Im going shopping with the missus in oxford street.
No matter how tough it gets I'd rather be on the Pendle.

Tried Ikea? That should solve the issue.

  • How's it going Brave Knights of the Pendle?

  • That video's lovely

  • Noticed at least 2 fixed riders in the video.

  • Does anyone know if you can ride a calendar event as a DIY? What I mean is to ride it on some other date but as it's already been registered as a particular distance you don't need to apply for it as a DIY. For example if you rode a calendar event and enjoyed the route but didn't want to wait till the next scheduled event and also wanted to get your audax points.

Haven't booked it yet but pretty sure I'll be doing the Windmill Ride as my first 200.

Tomorrow London to Brighton. My own route (not BHF) written out audax style with a group of about 6 others.

I'm riding that one. Will you be on fixed or gears?

willesden rider with the yellow gillet (late starter) will be fixed. I count three including Justin.

I know most if not all the faces. Quite a strong field there.

Surprised to see a few missing though, thought Mikey would be in on it.

    Jordan & Joel looked nervous.

    well jealous

  • Pendle is finished, so am I...

  • Chapeau.

I'll be on fixed. Probably 65", nice and easy.

  • ^^^Bravo!

    Chapeau!

    Seriously bonkers ride.

  • Well done, maniacs!

  • Well done, maniacs!

Apt choice of words given the longer ride from the same organiser:-

    http://www.aukweb.net/perms/detail/AC03/

  • The Pendle's so hard it gets 6km longer just as you're reading the description:

613km cycling event starting from Pendleton, Lancashire. Controls at Ripon, Robin Hood's Bay, Stokesley, Eggleston, Hexham, Langwathby, Seascale and Carnforth.

This 619km Audax event follows a hilly, anti-clockwise circuit circling northern England. The event has a predicted 10000+metres of climbing. NO INFO'S! Last chance until 2015! More...

  • Christ, that was some serious suffering, the ride had everything - amazing route over the Yorkshire moors, pennines, lake district to name only a few, the weather was challenging - sunny with showers then heavy rain at night, thick fog in the morning then more showers Sunday, we had about 30 mins sleep in a bus stop over the whole ride and one of the controls, in Hexham was basically in a kebab shop at kicking out time - wet, lycra clad males and drunk locals together at last. I was suffering from the start and it never stopped.

5 Audax Club Hackney riders started together, 5 finished together.
