• Not sure where to put this, but...

I made a couple of songs while I was on the longer train rides between cities in Japan when I was over there in May. All of the songs were written, performed and recorded using Garage Band (on an iPad) with a set of Bose noise-cancelling headphones and lack of sleep + cans of Japanese beer. I uploaded the tracks directly to SoundCloud from my iPad, so they're pretty raw. And simple. Very simple*. All the drums and synth samples are the standard ones included with Garage Band. I've never programmed drums, or really played synth either and this is the first solo thing I've ever done, plsu it's teh first thing I have ever recorded myself. I've been been playing bass for a few years in live bands and have only ever written bass lines to other instruments (synth, guitar, drums, other basses), so writing multiple instrument parts was interesting. I considered adding live bass to these tracks when I got back home, but I like the idea that it was all created using one app.

Also, I was listening to a lot (and I mean a lot) of John Carpenter soundtracks (mainly Escape From New York and Assault On Precinct 13), Zombi / Steve Moore and (Futureworld-era) Trans Am whilst on this trip. I think it shows a little bit, maybe a more party vibe though.

There are two songs at Golden Graves.

I'll be trying to write more songs soon. I have a couple in the works.

*Did I mention it's really simple? There is nothing professional about this. But I had fun doing it, so...
