I don't think a rider who is perhaps near the top of his racing career should have to worry too much about marshalling. You should get on with it and achieve as much as you can. 'Summer has too short a lease'.
However, it's a good thing for beginners to be doing, as many riders have been given enthusiasm by watching the top men of the day, which is what marshals do.
Naturally, it is to be hoped that those who have enjoyed competing in the past will turn out, but it must be admitted some of us are getting a bit past it and we could do with a new generation of retirees; perhaps the new vets standards will help here!
