• Now that I've put together some moolah I'm getting excited about finally getting something nice. My shortlist is:

Junghans Max Bill Chronoscope (mesh bracelet, white/silver dial, no numerals) - I just really like this thing and it's not too excruciatingly expensive. It's nothing like the other watches I like so I wonder if I'll get tired of it. Thinking of exactly like this one:

IWC Mark XVI (steel bracelet, black dial) - plain but beautiful, a keeper. I really like how understated and neutral this is. Prefer the smaller, simpler XVI to the latest version (XVII). I know black dials are fairly standard but I'm not too keen for some reason.

IWC Pilot's Chronograph - a really robust and good looking do-it-all chronograph. Same issue re black dial plus is it too bitty? Playing too hard at looking like a flightdeck? The newest one is, as per the XVI, less nice than the previous version IMO. Depite a couple of painfully fussy reservations it's amazing.

And then there's a few others I quite like. The Rolex Submariner is great but a bit ubiquitous and a bit look-at-my-fucking-rolex. I also doubt the value of it more. And the Omega Speedie (much less money) and similarly obvious.

    Any thoughts?
